I stupidly hit Software Updates after successfully installing 10.5 (retail) on my dell Mini.

That gave me a screen with scratches and b/w this forum and another, i tried everything,reformatting the Mac partition, and then ultimately the 'main' Dell drive.

After this last step, and almost installing 99% of the way thru got ERROR and then on restart

I'm going to try again, b/c I did it once, but could I have corrupted the HD?

I'm installing retail 10.5 w/ CD/DVD drive via USB port on mini 9"

You drive is most likely not corrupted, the issue you had with the 10.5.7 update is well known and well documented. If you had followed the steps in this post, it would have been resolved.

Yes, it is 47 pages long, and it should have been stickied months ago, but the first post in the thread tells you the steps required to fix the screen issue with this update.

Try plugging your DVD drive into the usb port closest to the power supply. This one seems to get a little bit more juice than the others.

After the 10.5.7 update, my screen was gray and remnant laden...

I was however able to boot into safe mode... I then "Restored" the disk to another SSHD...

Then I reinstalled the 10.5.5 and "Transferred" files at the install option from the other SSHD...

(saved me re-installing all my apps... etc....)

From the 10.5.5. area I used the Combo 10.5.7 Update and followed the proper update instructions...

Weeew!

Next time I will stay up with the latest information....
