Clear My Account It was a long shot at best, but I tried it with my Comcast ZTE TU25 and, you'll be very surprised to hear, it didn't work. The USB device shows up in the System Profiler, but it always did that. Back to waiting I suppose.

After digging I realized the ZTE TU25 used by comcast does use the Beceem chipset the same as Clear. I have modified the BeceemAppleWiMAXAdapter.kext/Contents/Info.plist file to include the correct dev and ven id's, in decimal, of product id 7, vendor id 6610 and now the device get's recognized and turns up in Apple's network preferences as en3, 4G WiMAX. So far so good, but the Clear connection manager tries to connect and keeps going through a loop, of connecting...(wait), authenticating...(and then instantly), disconnected. Something tells me this is not working because of the way Clear wire's wimax and Comcast 2go's wimax have a different way of authenticating. Does anyone have any knowledge of how wimax authentication works? I'm about to be hitting google pretty hard here, so any pointers would be great!

Unfortunately I was only able to go to Clear.com High Speed Mobile / Wireless Internet Service Provider or Comcast Official Site | High-Speed Internet, Cable, Phone Service Provider, and I would be sent to a clear splash page if I tried going anywhere else. - So I installed Windows via Virtualbox and after a lot of tribulation, got Comcast internet working through there. - Throughout that, I somehow erased the WiMax option on my mac so I had to remove everything, re-install older drivers, remove + re-install newest drivers. - Once everything was setup again, I got on the net and everything was wide open. I'm guessing the Comcast Connection Manager had to log my computer/MAC address into their system to allow me to browse..once that's set, it's as simple as plug and play. great to know I can use this with Mac before official support. Good luck y'all! |
