Default Carbon Copy Cloner - 07-02-2009, 10:54 PM

Has anyone used Carbon Copy Cloner? I'm trying to clone my Hackintosh for a 2nd Dell Mini 9. When I run the program it does the clone and says the clone is bootable but, when I install it in the new Mini 9, it says OS not found. Any help would be great!

Black Mini 9, Runcore 16gb SSD, 2 GB RAM, Easy Peasy Linux (Work In Progress)
Black ASUS EEE PC 900HA, 320gb 7200 RPM HDD, 2 GB RAM, Windows 7
Looking for an SSD or have one to sell? PM me!

did you use disk utility to mark the partition GUID?

Sure did.

Is it even possible to clone a Hackintosh install?

I use it all the time to make back ups. Even though it says the clone is bootable, that is in a regular mac.

For your clone to be bootable, you have to run DellEFI to finalize the drive. From what I understand, the very small EFI partition does not get cloned, as it is a separate partition, at the beginning, or first section of the drive. This is where the boot loader resides. You cloned the OS X partition, and if this was a regular Apple Mac, that would be enough. However, since this is a Hackintosh, you have to take additional steps.

If you are trying to boot from a clone, use either a Boot123 disk, or a usb thumb drive set up with the boot loader and DellEFI to make this work.

I'll give that a try right now. Thanks!
