Default cloning osx from mini 9 to a mini 10v? - 07-02-2009, 09:14 PM

As the subject mentions, I'm interested in cloning the OSX installation that I presently have on my Mini 9's Runcore drive and writing that image to a hdd for a Mini 10v.

I figured it may work but didn't know if there might be some issues with slightly different hardware, or anything like that. I thought I'd pull the runcore, plug it into a usb slot on my PC, and use an imaging tool like acronis true image to make an image. Then I figured I could use a usb enclosure with a 2.5" drive to write the image to it, and pop it into a 10v.

Anyone done this? Any idea if it would work? I like how I've got everything setup and don't want to mess with a fresh installation if it's not necessary.

I'm pretty sure this won't work, or at least not the way you would want. The video is different as is the touch pad.

Your best bet would be the new NetBookinstaller. While it isn't a clone of your current setup, it should be a better optimized install for the 10v, and therefore a better Hackintosh experience.

This might work with asr (terminal cli) and a little help of NetbookInstaller on the 10v HD.

1. Take the 10v HD, put in USB enclosure and connect to running Mini 9.
2. Format 10v HD
3. Use asr to backup Mini 9 Runcore to USB HD
4. Run NetbookInstaller 0.8.1 on the USB HD making sure to install Extensions, Bootloader and dsdt.aml.

Voila!
