Default I need syslinux 3.63 please read - 07-02-2009, 04:00 AM

I looked on their website and couldnt find the download link. I need to re-do my mini since it crashed on me after I was messing around with getting BT to be re-enabled. I ran DellEFI and when i remove the dsdt file and rebooted it never booted back up. I got the apple screen. I've tried everything so I must start all over again.

Does anyone have the syslinux 3.63 file or can point me in the direction of a version that will work with the hackintosh process?

Thanks I'd appreciate if someone can link it.

BTW i looked in the FAQ and those links are DEAD.

Do I just download the .zip file or do I have to download the tar and all that other stuff?

Zips are fine, but either one should work as long as it's the archive and not a signature / md5 file.

Thanks Mek. BTW I'm trying to put syslinux on the thumb drive and it won't work. I'm using Windows 7. I extracted syslinux to the win32 folder but can't find the syslinux.exe

I then found command prompt right clicked and said run as administrator. I typed in that syslinux -ma e: (my drive is e) says not recognizable yada yada yada.

I was hoping that by putting syslinux on a thumbdrive I could boot into my machine without having to start all over again. My problem is I'm stuck at the apple logo screen.

OK, follows these steps:

1) Download whichever version .zip you wish
2) Extract the achive to a folder that's convenient for you. On my Win 7 install I have all my downloads go to a downloads folder under my user folder. So in there make yourself a syslinux.3.82 (or whatever version you get) and extract everything to there. I believe a right click in Win 7 will give you the option to expand an archive.
3) You go into the command prompt, run as administrator, just like you did.
4) you'll want to cd to something like C:\Users\Your User Name\Documents\Downloads\syslinux3.82\win32
The path may not quite be that, but what I have should be close enough for you to figure out the correct path
5) Now you can run the syslinux.exe command

The key here for you is that the syslinux.exe command isn't at the root level of the archive but in the win32 folder within that.

This is what I did, correct me if I'm wrong.

I extracted syslinux.zip to my win32 folder.

I then did a Change Directory to:

cd C:\Windows\System32\Win32

I did this b/c I noticed there was a sylinux.exe located in the Win32 section.

If I run it something pops up fast and disappears. (It's not the command prompt)

I then did the syslinux -ma f: (being my usb thumbdrive)

It didn't give me a confirmation but it also didn't error out. It just bought me to another line in the directory.

I'm assuming I can't view the file on a Windows and I'd have to do it on a Mac.

Afterwards I have to copy the contents of the Type11 correct?
