Oy...now one Dell 10v is hooking up to my home network with no problems (I'm using it now) and the other isn't. I'm trying to force the Network settings of the one that doesn't work to match the one that does work, but with no success.

The Net Prefs show it's connected to my network and even gives what would be a proper IP address for my system. But when I try to open any browser, it'll try looking up the page (any page) for about a minute, then give me an "Address Not Found" error. Other times when I reset the AirPort setting. it'll give a "self-assigned" IP address, so I delete the AirPort and launch a new one.

Has anyone had this problem and how did you overcome it? It's really baffling. And it's only happening on my home network - not any other. It's a Belkin MIMO "N" router, and the Dell has a b/g/n card.

Thanks!

So I got audio out working fine in the internal speakers. When I reboot, it's still fine. But when I sleep it and wake it up, no audio! I have to use NetbookInstaller to reinstall extensions and reboot before audio works again.

Another post said to do this to remedy this:
1. Delete the AppleHDA and IOAudioFamily kexts in /Extra/Mini10vExt and copying in the VoodooHDA.
2. Once you do that, you will need to exit the kext white list in /Extra/UpdateExtra.app/Contents/Resources/kext_whitelist and remove AppleHDA from the list.
3.Finally, run UpdateExtra (the extensions update thing), press the update button and wait a while (it'll become unresponsive). Once that's done, you can reboot and VooDooHDA should be used now. And with that sound will work you come back from sleep mode.

This works, but I lose airport. The card is no longer recognized. Any suggestions?

I used the Netbook Installer to do the BT fix after building in the BT module from hellowifi. Now my Mini doesn't start up anymore, not even from the backup USB thumbdrive (which was done before I ran the NI BT fix). What makes me not shure, if it has to do anything with the Netbook Installer...
Ubuntu seems to work (tried it live from the thumbdrive), but no way to get OS X starting. I tried different settings in BIOS ... nothing!
I see the darwin screen with the blue bar, then the apple + spinning wheel ... and there it hookes ... It doesn't go any further ...

Has anyone experienced similar troubles?

I can finally look into these other issues because I finally solved my AirPort issues. It was the router. In case it ever happens to you...

I reset the router to factory settings and only changed the SSID to a completely different name and changed the WPA. Changing the SSID circumvented whatever profiles for the old SSID I had buried in my system and gave me the ability to start anew. No more self-assigned hooha (for now) and I'm happily writing this on my 10v.

Default stupid question #1 - 08-03-2009, 05:22 PM

What is the significance of setting up the USB drive on an Intel based mac? All I've got to work with is a G4 with 10.5.6 installed.

I believe its because the PPC version of disk utility doesn't work quite right. In general it works fine, its just setting up the USB drive operation is iffy. I'd say give it a try if that's the only Mac you have access to. Or you could try an Apple Store if your near one, it only takes a few minutes to format the USB drive.

Think, I'll make a new install using Netbook Installer ... BT works fine under Ubuntu, so I hope it will also do under Mac OS ...

Is there any possibility to transfer data from another mac after installation? I know, this worked in the past via Firewire, but what does Apple offer for the MacBook Air users who do not have FW anymore?
I would like to set up all my stuff from the backup if possible ... instead of doing it "by hand" ...

If you have a wireless network, they can communicate to each other through that using Migration Assistant. Word of caution: On two occasions going from one Hackintoshed Dell Mini to another, the migration was successful to the new computer, but I couldn't boot into the old one. (Did anyone else ever have that happen?)

This question is somewhat off-topic compared to what is being discussed ATM in this thread... but I saw a comment in another thread and it made me curious.

I am out of town for the next 2 weeks, but my Mini 10v just shipped (the day after I left) and is waiting for when I get home!!

Does NetbookInstaller use VoodooPower kext??

Thanks

Default Bootloader option on Netbook Install - 08-07-2009, 12:33 AM

Bootloader option on Netbook Install

I noticed that I now have two choices if I check to reinstall the bootloader, either PCEFI v9 or Chameleon 2.0 RC1 r431. What are the pros/cons of each option, and which is the standard for the Dell Mini 9? (Looking to update my system, currently running DellEFI 1.1).
