Yeah, just type "Atom 330" into NewEgg. It's only like $10 more than the single core (N270) board.

There's a couple of decent articles on the Ion on Anandtech (quite detailed), and on Laptop (not so much, but the Q&A is new), if you're interested. Does look interesting for net tops/media tanks (for the HDMI and HD capability). Not sure about the netbook space--we'll have to see what comes out, and how the performance and battery life are affected. Yes I know Nvidia says Ion is great and will cost less than $50 more and won't affect bettery life much, but all of that is just marketing speak and doesn't mean anything to me.

My CF card arrived!
I had trouble running Ghost from my flash drive, but it runs fine from my USB DVD drive.
At this point I'll have a chance to install the card on Sunday.

I'm highly curious to see how this thing does with a CF card for the OS.
If it's terrible I'll still use it for OS drive images. It's perfect for that.

Here's some pics of my server.
It looks like Windows is still percolating through the switchover to CF, so the jury's still out as far as using it for the OS goes, but I grabbed some shots while I had it open.

That's just not fair!

Now, I'll be saving the disposable income for one of these to replace my dying fileserver... Boot from the CF card, and have all kinds of storage space on the internal SATA drives. W00t!

Pretty box, dude - congrats.

Thanks!
Unfortunately my OS copy didn't go over too well.
I got a lovely blue Windows screen (not of death) and a mouse cursor when trying to boot from the CF card but nothing after that.

I'm going to try installing Windows to the card from scratch and see if it works that way.
It it DOES work out favorably I'm likely to swap out the 170gb drive for a 500gb drive from another machine for an even 2tb of storage.

My plans for the dual core atom motherboard in my wife's Dell are on hold thanks to a snow storm.. heh, I paid for overnight shipping on Wednesday.. Halfway through Thursday, the UPS truck turned around and went home. Judging by the forecast, I don't think I'll have the motherboard by Christmas.. Ugg.. hehe, sooner or later, I guess..

2tb of storage, t100 ethernet, no moving parts to boot the OS, and it sips what like 60 watts?

Yeah, I'm jealous!

Thanks again! This is an awesome project so far.
It's really culmination of all my research into low power systems over the last year and a half or so. (especially my experience with my Mini 9) It has come together in this box.

When the monitor is off and the drives spin down my APC box tells me it's around 37 watts, but I haven't really settled into a usage pattern with it yet AND there will be a printer running with it too.
Either way this should be a fairly low power rig, even if I go back to using HDs to run the show.
btw
WinXP Pro did NOT like being ghosted over, but does appear to run okay when INSTALLED to the CF card.

I installed Windows onto the CF card last night and I'm knocking out the drivers this morning.
Again, I have to love the Wind driver install disk, FOUR drivers, easy list, couple few restarts and bam it's ready to be tweaked and set up for use.
I can see how it runs slower at times using the CF card, but considering what this thing's job is I don't think it's going to matter one bit. Most of what I'm seeing is slight delays while installing stuff, handling print jobs and file requests shouldn't tax it too much.

My REAL curiosity is over how long the CF card will reliably act as a 24/7 OS drive, even with virtual memory turned off.
It's a fast, modern, industrial card but I've never put a device like this to the test before.
(I still have the HD-installed OS on one of the HDs as a backup)
