It's a weird story. I pretty much have upgraded... but haven't upgraded. You see for years I've had the same kind of CPU speed, RAM, video graphics... But it was all a big tower. With the netbook it's pretty much the same computer I've always had, just tiny. Which is great for classes, which is really what I use it for, note taking, web surfing, listening to music, watch a video here and there... I'm not much of a power user, I'll tell you that. StarOffice works great on here too

Some of us just don't like talking about our toilet companions...

I use mine for a few things, mostly all work related.

I use it to console into cisco devices using a USB-Serial dongle...
Actually, now that I think about it... that is it's primary function right now. Eventually it will also act as a small portable Hard drive. I partitioned the drive as 12gigs for the OS and 100 for storage (Yes, I deleted Dell's Recovery BS and made my own backup!). That way I can share some media with friends and always have a laptop with me if I need it.

Oh yeah, I decided today, I like smilies!

I originally bought my Mini-10 to use with my "Twin-scan" tool.
This interfaces with a motorcycle's data connector and shows trouble codes and does engine diagnostics. (Windows only)
Now I have 2 different Linuxes on my mini and am experimenting with other Linuxes.

mini 10 - black, 1.6ghz, tv tuner, hd screen, multiboot-> win xp | MX-14.2 | debian 6.03 | slitaz_rolling | crunchbang 11
zaurus sl-C3100 multiboot-> zubuntu rc1.0 | angstrom opie 2007.12-r18 | cacko 1.23
zaurus sl-C3200 pdaxii13-5.5-alpha4 akita on nand

I photograph events and weddings on the side, so the intended use of mine is a glorified photo dump and backup so I can free up my memory cards. Since I have lots of gear to lug around for 12-16 hour days, I'm always trying to find ways to save space and weight. The mini is about half the size of my regular laptop. I don't know why I didn't think of getting one sooner.

I suspect it will end up being my television companion in no time.

Well, I am in college and I need a laptop for class. I have a Dell Inspiron desktop at my apartment, but I need something portable to take to class. I thought to myself, hmm, buy a notebook thats powerful enough to replace my desktop, or buy a netbook, that I will use mainly for editing documents and typing lectures in class. So, school, is the reason why I got a netbook; I'll have it next week. I ordered it yesterday and its shipped this morning.

What do you mean by cut off? I wanted to put that on my netbook tomorrow.
