Default 64 bit OS - 11-08-2008, 04:31 PM

I just purchased a new XPS M1330 and was wondering if you can install a 64 Bit version of XP on a 32 Bit system. I know you can order the 1330 with the 64 Bit Vista OS. I hope my Mini doesn't get jealous.

You sould be able to. The only issue is finding 64bit xp drivers for the computer Per Dell drivers They are not listed on the website so you would need to find the drivers else were.

Thanks zaden. I noticed in a post on another site someone was installing a 64bit XP system but i'm not sure if it was a 32 bit system to start with or a 64bit. Also I saw a 64bit sytem for Vista at Dell that said you could not choose Bluetooth with 64bit. The XP install this guy was doing said they had bluetooth up and running. I assume this is because Dell does not have 64bit bluetooth drivers for Vista yet?

Edit;
I just checked the driver download page for the XPS M1330 and Dell is showing 64bit bluetooth drivers for Vista. It was the 6400 Covet orange buisness laptop with 16gb DDR capability I was looking at that removed the bluetooth option after selecting 64bit XP. As long as you chose 64bit Vista there was no compatibility issues with selecting a Bluetooth module. So I wonder if XP has the cpability of bluetooth in 64bit?
