Default Non computer users thoughts on the Mini - 03-09-2009, 04:26 AM

At my job, my MIni was getting double takes. The average person to me seems to think it's some sort of "toy" laptop with no actual capabilities at first glance...

Some silly questions I have been asked:

"Is their internet on it?"

"Is that a computer?"

"Does it run programs?"

Well, I guess not all of us are graced with computer skills  , but it is to be expected. It's not like Netbooks have been around that long. I'm also hooked on them only after a few days!

Anybody have similiar experiences?

People usually just say something like "Wow, that's a mini laptop".

Yep.

I don't have that problem, mainly because if you know me, you know I wouldn't be playing with a "toy" laptop

Everyone just wants to know how much and how soon they can get one.

I have been asked "Is that a real computer?" a few times. The other question I am asked a lot is "Can you do everything on it?" But "everything" means something different, according to who asks the question.

I get the is that a computer question a lot and even when I say yes, I think people just assume that it is not a fully functioning computer and can only do basic things, but then when I show them I am running mac osX and show them me editing a video or music and jumping on the real internet (not some strange interface) then they are just blown away.
