Default External Sound Card - 01-20-2009, 12:15 PM

Has anyone tried using an external sound card and speaker setup on their mini? Since I plan on taking mine to work to listen to music while I work, would it be a worthwhile investment to buy something like an external Sound Blaster card and set of speakers for listening to music while I am there?

Speakers? Do you work alone?

I would suggest trying a decent set of amplified speakers with the built-in sound first. Unless you're looking for concert-hall realism, it may be more than sufficient.

Yes, I do work alone. Part of the day I am in a four room equipment shop, where I assemble ventilators and other respiratory equipment. I can listen as loud as I want.

Ok. In that case, sound quality is secondary. Get some good amplified speakers (e.g. not Bose).

Cool, I will give those a try before I get a card. Thanks for the idea.

Use a Nuforce Icon Mobile or iBasso Boa or D3 or D10 or Headroom Total Bithead for an external sound card via USB. I have three of those noted soundcards.
