When the Mini 9 was new, SSDs were quite expensive. Dell offered them with as little as 4GB (running Linux). Your other choices were 8 and 16GB, and that was pricey. The aftermarket supplied 32, 64 and, for a while, 128GB drives, but the prices were (and are still) insane.

Rotating hard disks such as in the other Mini models were not available (and would not fit). Remember that the Mini 9 takes a specialized SSD card so options are very limited (and expensive).

How do I do a clean install on my dell mini 9? I want to wipe everything off. I have Xp but my microsoft works isnt working nor is the sound. i only use it for internet and email.

Do you have the Dell restore CD? If so, connect a USB CD or DVD reader, insert the CD and boot from the CD. If you don't have a CD or DVD reader you can use a utility to create a bootable USB flash drive from the Windows CD on another computer. WinToFlash is one such.
