Default Time for a new Mini, but which one? - 02-19-2011, 12:19 AM

I managed to get 3 good years out of 910, so I'm not interested in another because of it's small HD...it's actually listed on ebay right now with a bad HD.

There are so many versions out there that my head is spinning.

1010, 1011, 1012, 1018 10v etc, etc, etc.

I'm more interested in having whichever one has the tv tuner in it and windows7, but XP is OK.

I'm looking around on ebay but not finding what I'm looking for really.

How do I decipher what has what?

A TV tuner was an option on some models - you can't tell just from the model number if a Mini has it or not. I suggest you look at the basic specs of the various models and decide which one best meets your needs.

The 10v is the same as 1011, and in performance is similar to the 910. The 1010 has some unique features but a slower processor and non-upgradeable RAM. The 1012 and 1018 are similar in performance, but the 1018 is a somewhat stripped-down model.

the 1010 and 1011 are discontinued and the 1018 is a cheaper version of the 1012, just look around the boards there is plenty of info here to be found..its kinda senseless to go thorugh each model when it has been done so many times on this board already....seek and you shall find.....

OK...some of the info you've posted helps a bit.

Can a TV tuner module be added to these models after purchase without any issue?

I kinda like watching TV by the pool in the summer LOL

Just buy a USB TV tuner and you can use it with any of them.

Have you checked the Dell refurb site? I saw a few 1012s that have the tuner and HD video included for a few dollars more.

Also, if you ever want to have Mac OS X installed, the 1011 (10v) is the best choice.

The HD screen and video decoder card combo are common, but I think the tuner is rare. I don't see any in the Outlet with it at the moment.

Been checking the outlet and they seem to have some of these now, (1012's) did you end up buying one yet?
