Default Should I re-install XP on my mini10v running Windows 7? - 06-23-2010, 11:17 PM

Ok, this might sound stupid but my dell mini10v's been having DC jack problems, as in it doesn't really charge anymore unless I bend it a little to the side (I have a bad habit of lying in my bed with it and sometimes I lean to side and without really noticing, I kinda push on the power cable). It's still under warranty but I installed a cracked windows 7. Should I re-install XP from the restore disk or does it really not matter? I feel like I'm being overly paranoid.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Yeah, except on a hackers forum, or even there. it's not really a good idea to announce your using hacked software.
Look on Ebay and find a replacement jack and fix it yourself. If your handy with a soldering iron that is, or know someone that is.
Otherwise I'd just remove the drive, or wipe it.

Actually the jack is just a box with a wire that connects to the system board. It's an easy replacement if you can locate the part.

Might be, Dell has service manuals on their site for both models, you can look at both and compare to get an idea.

Default replacement jack for mini10V - 07-06-2010, 05:38 PM

I looked online for hours, and couldn't find a part number from Dell or an exact match from many other places. I'm having the same problem and eventually called Dell and they are fixing it under warranty.
