Thne new mini note is on QVC today in US. It's advertised as a real laptop replacement. $599. Available through QVC only so far.

I will stick with the Dell Mini.

See the specs. http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/app. ... HP-_-IMAGE

Hope I've put the link in correctly.

I've moved this to the general section, its good news, but not entirely Dell Mini related.

Well if we're going to talk about other netbooks and such.. How about that new Tablet Eee.. That's pretty sweet.
Or how about the new MSI Netbook that is the same shape and size and look as the MacBook Air.. It's got a higer resolution screen than the MacBook Air. It's got an Atom CPU, and it's $900.. I think that makes it the most expensive machine with an Atom now.. heh.. Hard to call it a Netbook at 13.3".. But it does have an Atom CPU and no optical drive, so I guess it qualifies, more than the MacBook Air does with it's real CPU.

What about the VAIO P? That thing engages my gadget lust. And it's supposed to fit in the $900 (US) bracket also.

However suddenly, with the 2.0ghz MSI Wind (Their BIOS supports overclocking) I'm beginning to lust again...

Netbooks -> Mini 9 - 2gb Gskill low latency - Ubuntu 8.04
Asus Eee 701 4g - 1gb - Ubuntu 8.04.1
Desktops -> Phenom Quad @ 2.8 - 16gb - 4x Raptor X in RAID 0 - 2x 4870X2
Brisbane 1.9 @ 2.7 - 4gb - 80gb
Many others, all Linux.

The MSI Wind has supported overclocking for a long time. It's nothing new. It sounds like it's pretty far from fully stable at 2GHz..

I considered the VAIO P briefly, before I saw the outrageous price for the higher end models. Also, I think the screen's resolution is a bit too high for the size.
