Thanks for letting us know. I almost included similar language in a couple of my recent auctions, but now I'm glad I didn't! I wasn't planning to include SL, just point out that the laptop could be Hackintoshed if the buyer so desired.

Indeed, it is best not to mention in your ad anything like hackintoshing. It is a violation of the Apple EULA and that is enough to get eBay to take down your auction. Anyone who wants to hackintosh knows already what they're looking for.

I agree that it would be best to handle the OS X DVD separately, but prepare to have that canceled too.

Call it a "fruit enhancement" instead of MacOS or something. They'll NEVER know.... ;-)

Just don't mention it at all. There's no reason to do so. Feel free to point people to MyDellMini.com for all of the things one can do with a Dell Mini.

Why? Apple will request e-bay to end your listing, and guess what? e-bay will. I don't fault e-bay, after all who wants to challenge apple?

I've read about it here and elsewhere before - but now I know. I do have a little knowledge of the complexities of copyright from my line of work as a photographer and image editor, and realize there's no point in disputing it.

That being said, I hope this helps you so you don't have to trouble with re-listing or even losing the possibility of listing on e-bay.

So, thanks apple - you've really helped out one of your customers. Really appreciate you ending my listing....

Edit: p.s., here is the excerpt from my ebay listing: "***These Dell Mini 9's are hugely popular for a variety of reasons, and are 100% compatible with Mac OSX installs if you upgrade to a larger hard drive " please note that there was no mention of the OS being offered in this sentence or anywhere else in the listing. It can be viewed here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260551615553&ssPageNam e=STRK:MEUSX:IT
I have seen many, many, mention hackintoshing and installed sl or other versions of mac osx, i have also read many who complained that their auction got taken down by apple. its best to not mention it, to make sure your auction will not be taken down, but ,there are many, many others that dont get touched with a lot more descriptive listings then yours

Default My New Dell Mini 9 - 03-09-2010, 01:50 PM

Yeah, I won the auction for a Dell Mini 9 and after I paid for the auction I got a message from eBay saying they have ended the auction (even after it ended) and that I should not pay for it. I contacted the buyer and he said he did not understand what was going on. Turns out I received a pristine Dell Mini 9 Obsidian in 2 days Priority mail and the guy was the nicest person! All this cause he mentioned "these Mini 9's are very sought after because of their ability to seamlessly install MacOSX". I paid $275 for mine with free shipping. I love it!
