just call it what it is-the iDouche for publicly displaying your douchiness, must hack this thing to run OS X proper or else be a truly green company and stop wasting our time and planet with such flash,no multitask,no cameras, all DRM, all Appstore only, no inputs(other than kooky 30 pin), no outputs, crap screen, crap screensize, crap memory, crap processor..............this is the beginning of the end when big successful company starts trying to 'skin a flea' sell useless widgets, our Easter island moment

Does anyone actually think people are going to replace their ipods with this monstrosity??

I'm sorry, but I can't see anyone carrying this on the train to work purely to listen to music on the train.

That doesn't even take into account the sheer theft-magnet that this thing will be. Unless I want to carry a manbag with me I would have to hold this device for the entire trip. at 0.7kg thats really not an ideal situation.

Its simply not that portable.

It would also make a rubbish travelling companion, since you'd be lugging around a 10" device which can only offer as much capability as the phone in your pocket seems pretty pointless. I'll stick to the Dell and ipod combination for now thanks.

To me, it looks like a response to the Kindle/Nook. If you ask me, responding to them is like responding to a rhetorical question. I love that companies are doing what Amazon/B&N are doing, but I just don't buy that people are clamoring for a not that good book reader you can't use in the sunlight that you can also buy games on.

It's more fashion than a real breakthrough.

They are not going to destroy the ipod touch market or any other ipod market with this. This is aimed at the affluant market with money to burn, its basically as in the promo add a electronic magazine you can read with internet and photo functions as well as video playback.

You dont use this on the train, you use it at home while chilling out supping a bud

It will cost you $500 for the privalege, but looks quite snazzy.

I wont be buying one though.

If it ran OSX, we'd be least I would be.

I do find it kind of lame that Apple didn't do was done obviously to appeal to the masses. If it works, good for them......but if the masses don't go for it, it won't be a huge surprise.
