Default Inspiron as a media server? Help for a potential buyer! - 12-26-2009, 06:28 PM

I'm looking at the new Inspiron for a media server to stream from my Mac Pro. The things I would expect it to do would be able to stream via wi fi, HD, 5.1 audio, stream Netflix and the ability to install programs like Boxee or Plex. Does anyone have a similar setup? What extra Dell options do I need to order along with the Inpiron to make this work?

(Also, does one of the audio upgrades that Dell offers have the ability to send 5.1 through the HDMI to the TV?)

Welcome to the forum!

Which new Inspiron are you looking at? Four digit model number would be best, as there is sometimes ambiguity in the marketing names.
