Default My Acer Aspire, Toshiba, Now Dell mini 9 experience! - 12-16-2009, 08:00 PM

Just joined the forum. Have been reading up on putting OS X on an Intel pc for approx. 6 mos. Narrowed the instructions down to one,,,,attempted to put OS X Snow Leopard on my Acer Aspire. No go,,,,kept saying 'power off and then back on,,,etc'. Tried 3 times,,,wouldn't work.
Then decided to try my Toshiba N205 netbook,,,used several different instructions--Gizmodo, Mechdrew, etc. Did not work,,,same error (kernel panic?). Tried it twice. Gave up..
Then got motivated again and bought a mini 9 on Ebay. I used Mechdrew's guide (the 1st guide, using a Mac). To my amazement, it worked the first try with absolutely NO errors. Sound, wifi, everything! I used a 16gb flashdrive to put the OS X 10.6.0 image on. I also first updated the bios to A04, it came with A00. I did the combo update to 10.6.1. That is where I will stay.
I am so excited, I just went on Dell Outlet store and bought a Mini 10v. I hope I have the same good luck as I had with the Mini 9. Since all my Netbooks (Acer, Toshiba, and Dell) have the same specs, is it safe to say that the motherboard is the determining factor in making this work? Or is it a random thing. Believe me, I read so many different tutorials that my head was spinning,,,and almost backed out several times.

So I want to thank everyone who has put 'guides' on here, and mostly Mechdrew,,,whose guide finally got me to my sweet little mac mini 9!!! And if I have any problems converting the mini 10v, I will definitely come here for help!!
