Anybody Have Any Insight on Mirus Tablet? - 10-21-2009, 03:23 AM
So, I recently came across what appears to be a neat little netbook/tablet. It's made by Mirus (Mirus Innovations), which is in some way affiliated with Intel. I'm really surprised so little press is out there on this company and its products. Intel, you may or may not know, has been trying to compete in the OLPC market for some time and they have released a number of netbooks and a tablet under the Mirus name. They are called Schoolmates. They are marketed at kids, but looking at the specs, they are practically identical to a Dell Mini 9 or similar netbook, so they could just as well serve the purposes of many of the people on this website, many of who are not kids.
My real reason for posting this is to ask if anyone has any insight into the Mirus Schoolmate tablet (model CT9XP), such as how well built it really is, how well the touchscreen and digitizer pen work, how similar it is to the Mini 9 by way of the keyboard, screen res, etc. Most importantly, I'm wondering if OS X could be installed on it. I love my Mini 9, but really want to be able to draw on the go. I am able to use Adobe CS4 with a Wacom tablet on my Mini 9 right now with no problems, except that i have to lug all the gear around. So I was thinking: wouldn't it be great if OS X worked on a tablet and I could stop lugging around the Wacom? I think it would be great!
Let me know your thoughts if you have any.
