Coupon would've been great, but I've already made my purchase. Thanks, though!

UPDATE: I received my scratch and dent 10v today. It looks almost new. The only two things that may make this a scratch and dent are: (1) a tiny bugbite-looking bump on the top - looks like a manufacturing defect; and (2) a tiny dent also on the top. Beyond these two, everything else seems great.

Whew!

Okay, I found the reason why my 10v was considered a scratch and dent. I noticed today that one of my USB ports on the left side of the netbook is completely broken/jammed/unfixable.

Thought I should share.

If a USB port is unusable, you should be able to get that fixed or replaced under warranty. Dell describes "Scratch & Dent" as "system may have considerable cosmetic blemishes, and as "Systems with cosmetic blemishes that do not affect performance".

"Scratch & Dent" systems are supposed to be 100% functional, just ugly.

WOW, Great line. But I am with reflex. Call them and get it fixed under warrenty. The only thing I noticed on both of mine is that the USB ports are "tight".

Based off what you guys said, I will definitely call Dell to get it fixed. I've already installed SL on the 10v, so I don't want to send it in. Do you guys know if I have to send it back to Dell or if they will send me a replacement part?

I wont be able to help you here, I have not ever had to have a unit repaired. But from looking around it seems that they send you the parts in some circumstances and in other's I have read they had to send in the unit.

In my two instances over the years, Dell agreed to send me the part after I told them I could do the repair. Both times they offered to send a Tech to do the repair, but since no one is home during the day, I told them to supply me with the part and I would do the repair. Both were desktops, Dell sent parts overnight delivery. Definitely have Dell take care of that, scratch&dent is only as stated cosmetic, and as far as the couple scratch&dent items I bought from Dell it was either very minor or nonexistent.
