I referrred a co-worker to the "Scratch and dent" section of Dell as he was looking for a large screen laptop with a webcam for sub$400.

he was a bit scared of the scratch and dent part of it since it was going to be a gift but the laptop he received was flawless.

Bumping this thread.

I was wondering if anyone has ordered a scratch and dent 10v in the past 4 months. I just ordered one last night, and curious to what extent these scratches and dents are.

Not a 10v, but I ordered a "Scratch & Dent" desktop recently. After a light cleaning, it seems new (similar to my "Scratch & Dent" Mini 9 ordered a year ago).

I ordered a scratch and dent Vostro a90 last month. The thing looks brand new. This is the third scratch and dent machine I've ordered in the last year. All of them have looked as good as new.

I have bought now 2 dell mini's out of the outlet, the first was a month ago a mini 10v N280 it was labeled previosly ordered new and it had no scratches what so ever and works great. the second about 2 weeks ago was a dell mini 10 for my wife that was labeled scratch and dent no scratches on it any where, keyboard didnt even have finger prints on it.

Dell seems to be real good about their outlet store, just watch out though my item said shipped for 2 week and after one i called in and they still hadnt shipped it yet. Expect shipping delays for no apparent reason.

Thanks, all. Very good feedback.

It just seems very odd that many have received "flawless" and "like new" equipment even though Dell Outlet labels them as harshly as "scratch and dent." Hopefully mine will be in as good shape as well.

Maybe I am a bit of a cynic, but surely Dell must lable these models "Scratch & Dent" for a reason, rather than just refurbished, or whatever!

I wonder if perhaps they have received some form of internal 'modification', either by Dell, or even by a previous owner.

It is great that some many members who are buying these are receiving 'as new' models though!

To clarify, my "Scratch and Dent" purchases looked perfect after a cleaning, but they didn't look new right out of the box.
