I've actually had great experiences with Dell Chat - it's much better than phone support, IMO. However, I've heard that Dell in general is terrible when it comes to supporting Ubuntu, so it doesn't surprise me that you would have trouble.

Hope you can get everything fixed up and your battery working again!

thanks. i was using chat because its so much more convenient than a phone call.
(call, get put on on hold for 2 hours, talk to some guy you cant even understand, talk to a different guy, nobody can help you, bye)
i fixed my battery problems. it turned out to be because i was in airplane mode.

Is Dell chat only available for SMB? I can't find chat for the Home section.

Unhappy I tried to use chat - not avail, had to phone - 08-17-2009, 02:33 AM

I had problems with my 10v overheating; and when I tried to connect via dell chat it said i had to call the 1-800 #.

I did use their chat when purchasing - in regard to a usb stick for mobile internet - i did not find them very knowledgeable (ie could not tell me if there were roaming charges if I used my stick in the USA {i is from the Candada{?}.

We wouldn't have that information, that's between you and your mobile broadband service provider. We just give you the part with the computer if you want it. You may need to call them and ask "If I get this card with this computer will I be getting roaming charges etc", as they would know. The mobile broadband account is not through us and we don't even have a way to look at what it says in the contract as far as I know.
