The ambient light sensor in one of our D630s started to act up last week and caused the screen to go dim.
Called Dell Support and after informing them that I've already tried reseating the video cable and updating to the latest BIOS, they dispatched a service tech to replace the LCD screen. The tech shows up the next day and after 15 minutes, replaces the defective screen with a brand new screen and we're up and running.
Couldn't be happier with Dell support/service. But again, YMMV.
