Just for the record, if you order via SB, you do get somewhat better support, but I rest by my statement above.

I have had mixed experiences with Dell--better after I bought my Mini because I bought it on the business side of the sales division. But now that the institutionalized gender discrimination has come to light, I won't buy another Dell product.

Dell recently had to settle a huge lawsuit because the company was found to systematically deny equal employment opportunities to women. Dell discriminated against women in compensation, promotions and assignments.

I doubt it seriously. While I have never purchased a Dell product before I bought my1010; the big company I work for uses only Dell computers.
Just recently we noticed we were having trouble with the Dell toners for their laser printers. If you did not know you can only buy toners for Dell printers from Dell. Our staff noticed the toners were not lasting very long. More investigation reveiled the toners were comming back from Dell only half full. We were paying 90$ for refurbished toners that Dell was only half filling.
The company I work for has at least one and some stores more than one Dell laser printer in each location. We have over 200 locations. Needless to say our MIS department was caught with their pants down when this came to light.
With all the things that has come about with the 1010, and my parent company, I am not very sure I will ever buy another Dell. fdalbor

The ambient light sensor in one of our D630s started to act up last week and caused the screen to go dim.

Called Dell Support and after informing them that I've already tried reseating the video cable and updating to the latest BIOS, they dispatched a service tech to replace the LCD screen. The tech shows up the next day and after 15 minutes, replaces the defective screen with a brand new screen and we're up and running.

Couldn't be happier with Dell support/service. But again, YMMV.
