Default Antivirus in Win7 - free and legal? - 07-24-2009, 09:21 AM

Hey people!

I just recently installed Win7 on my Mini 10V and it run's like a dream. However, I need to find a good and compatible antivirus suite, and I only use the free ones, since I am a rather poor student and I don't believe in software piracy, generally.

I tried installing Avast, which I used at my last installation, but it produces a lot of errors and it takes a lot of resources, so I had to remove it. Does anyone here run a free AV on 7, and in the case, which one - and where to down it?

Thanks!

I use AVG, but not on my Mini, which runs FreeBSD and doesn't need an antivirus (or a firewall >.>). It's at free.avg.com.

Kaspersky has a beta for Win7 that I am running on my D630 laptop (installed with RC1)... so far so good.

Some colleges and universities provide AV software to students and faculty for free. Ours hands out Trend Micro "OfficeScan." You might check with your computer support folks.
