Default Dell Mini 9 vs Dell Mini 10? - 07-22-2009, 12:41 PM

Hey all - I currently have a Dell Mini 9. I have 2GB of RAM, 64GB Runcore, bluetooth, 1.3 MP webcam, etc. Is there anything that the Dell Mini 10 offers if I were to upgrade? I noticed that they use a SATA disk now, which is awesome in some ways because I can get a ton of diskspace for cheap. Can it support 2GB of RAM (the mini 10) and is the CPU any faster?

I believe the 10 can support 2 gb of RAM, but I'm pretty sure the clock speeds are the same (1.6 Ghz). I might add that from what I've seen, it is an extreme pain to upgrade RAM, etc. on the 10, because you have the strip the computer down to the motherboard (removing keyboards, back panels, etc.).

Do not confuse the 10 with the 10v. The 10v can have 2GB with the disassembly you mention, but the 10 (no v) is not user-upgradeable.

I like my mini 9 but I really like the larger keyboard, screen and hard drive on the mini 10

FYI, I have both, and there is a very substantial size/weight difference for the Mini 9 vs. the 10. It doesn't seem like it on paper, but it really feels like it when you use them or carry them around. There will be many, many 10" options in the future, that seems to be where the sweet spot is settling. There will be few if any 9" options, so I am keeping my Mini 9 indefinitely and I actually bought another at the $199 price (plus a couple options).

I really like toting around my Mini 9 better than the 10v. The only thing so far I like better about the 10v is the keyboard.
