Default What benchmark software do you use? - 07-18-2009, 07:27 PM

Hi there,

Is there a general go-to benchmark program that everyone uses?

One that may not necessarily be the best but good enough since so many people use it for comparison?

I just want to see how my P4 desktop, AMD athlon, and my AMD turion mobile compare with each other and versus newer processors

Super Pi. Calculates pi to the whatever number of digits you tell it to. It's mostly a CPU benchmark, not a whole system benchmark though. In a VM, my Athlon 64 X2 5000 at 2.8 GHz will do 1 million digits in 37 seconds, my Core 2 Duo P8600 at 2.4 GHz in my Latitude does it in 32 seconds, haven't done my mini yet.
