Hi everyone, new here and registered JUST for this topic... But if it's cozy here I might just stay.

Anyway, I have installed the latest drivers. But, I notice some people are wondering what's new with the drivers... Well to be honest, I don't know what to look for since I went from the default Dell page Mini 10 drivers to the new 1012 drivers. Youtube and stuff still seems fine, I guess if that's what people are wondering...?

I haven't tried doing HDMI output since the update though. It's something I rarely do anyway, so if it doesn't work anymore with the new drivers than... whatever.

I've gotten what I can out of the way (feel free to ask me for more details, be specific), here is what I have to ask:

A few pages back people have been saying how they have been getting Project64 working *flawlessly*. Well that's great, but I can't get any of my games running at a smooth frame rate for the life of me. Did I miss a certain plugin somewhere you guys were talking about?

On another note, I've ALMOST gotten my backups on epsxe working, and installing this latest driver really really helped out. But it's still not great. For my video plugin I have P.E.Op.S Soft Driver 1.18, using the Nice settings except changing "Use Frame Skipping" to "Use FPS limit" and switching "FPS limit" to "Auto-detect FPS/Frame skipping". I also make the fullscreen mode the smallest it can, 640 x 480, and I also check the "Use system memory" box.

The best results in sound plugins are, sadly, the default ePSXe SPU core 1.7.0 driver. Why do I say sadly? Because I can't configure the dang thing! Sometimes sounds garble and crunch up with more stuff going on screen. Some of my games, like FF9, run OK with a character running around the map - if I'm ever in a menu then it starts hiccuping and repeating itself, and in fights if someone has some big magical thing going on than it slows down a bit again... But the thing is, when I have sound turned off, FPS is great. :/

In good news, Abe's Exoddus for the PC works great on my Mini! I just got my old CDs, made ISO's out of them, mounted the with Daemon tools, and installed them in full. It worked even before getting the new drivers and finding this thread.

Thanks everyone for all your contributions, looks like I might be buying some games soon!

A quick follow up on my last post... So I found a plugin that kinda works. At least a little better than the core one.

It is the Eternal SPU Plugin 1.50

This is how I have my settings on it along with the video settings:

Audio Device: DirectSound with 64 buffer size
Audio Out Method: Thread
Check all three special game fix boxes
Check "Wait for XA buffer is free" on
Reverb: Neill's

While that takes away most of the stuttering in games, there are some slowdowns when games are reading the memory card for whatever reason. It's my pet peeve... And it doesn't sound perfect with how the games really sound, but it's just about all we got to work with, unless someone else can find a better solution (and if you do, please share!)

I imagine if games like starcraft and AoE2 have functionality at this point, that runescape would also work. Can't imagine that its that much more difficult to do than those two.

Once again a quick message to thank Tylwith for his reply. I really appreciate you took the time to figure out a way to get Age2 working!

I just tried your solution and it works perfect (Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Display Adapters > Disable Intel GMA 500). I find it insane to have to disable the graphic card to be able to play a game like Age of Empire 2, but at least the game starts and is working without any issue.

I believe we can modify the 1st post of the thread and mark Starcraft + Age of Empires 2 as working (with hacks).

I'll also have a look at a quick way to disable/enable drivers on Windows XP without a reboot. Would be definitely much quicker!

Thanks again Tylwith for your time!

Cheers,
Max

THANK YOU MAX! When you disable the driver Starcraft works fullscreen perfectly, no need to download anything to make it run.
