Well answering my own question but figured I would share. For those of you that like Killer Instinct 1 and 2, Mame will run them, but very slowly. Almost to the point of being non-playable. The audio skips and game play is slow. HOWEVER all is not lost. google u64emu 3.11. It is based on the original u64emu that RCP made. It runs KI and KI2 MUCH better and is very playable. now I just need to get one of the new SF4 fighter pads for the x360 to have mobile KI

Hey thanks for the info. I'm going to try it out. Would love to run KI arcade instead of the N64/SNES versions!

I've decided to use the latest version of MAME (0.132) and go through the complete catalog to weed out which games will work and which will not on the Mini9/A90. Now for obvious reasons, I'm sure almost if not ALL games that require a CHD have to go. While I haven't tried them all yet, all the games in Zinc are far to slow to be playable. And that is with Zinc being more optimized than mame to run the ZN1 and ZN2 games.

My testing environment will be my A90 with it's current config. I will be running the latest W7 on my Runcore drive to get maximum performance. Now we all know the rom collection will eat a ton of harddrive space. So I plan to throw them onto a USB drive and transfer them in chunks to weed them out. Once I have finished I will post a clrmamepro dat of the remaining working but most importantly PLAYABLE games. And then try to maintain this database as future releases come.

I figured this will help not only use Dell users but most if not all netbook and lowerend laptop users since the specs are pretty low but tolerable. Depending on how it goes, once we have a list of games, I can start ripping into the source to take out all the drivers and other parts not needed and do a Netbook build. Maybe this will motivate me to save up for a Runcore 64gb SSD or even consider the Mad Russian mod to be able to use a 70mm Runcore 128gb SSD But that's just crazy talking there.

Do any of you use a "front end"?

If so, which?

I just found my MAME cd with a bunch of roms I downloaded 6 years ago and am trying them out on my Mini 10 and 9.
Mostly older games though, is there anywhere to still download roms from?
Guess I ought to get a newer version of MAME too lol.

I'm sorry I can't help you find ROMs because they still are considered illegal to distribute except a handful of really, really bad commercial to free games that nobody wanted to copyright anymore.

Hey, I just wanted to point out something that might a lot of people out there.

1. Turning down your sound mixing to 22khz or 11khz will show you a little more performance out of it.

2. Also, use GMAbooster for those pesky games that are on the "borderline" of working. (Yes, it DOES work).

Hey yidakee...that is strange...according to this:

Using a Keyboard

The keys are the same setup. Strange. Maybe you should check out the keybind settings within MAME OSX, perhaps they are not set up correctly.
