Default Mini 10v and FS2004? - 08-15-2010, 11:55 PM

So, I am considering a Mini10v to hook up to my Sony LCD TV as a Multimedia Center and to watch Youtube vids on the big screen, but still haul around when I need a laptop for photography shoots. I also like to play games, like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. Can the Mini 10v handle FS2004 good enough to be playable on decent settings and look good on a 32" CD? Thanks.

I don't use Windows or game on my Mini 9 (very similar to the 10v) or my 1012 (an improved 10v). So, all I can say is: Try searching the Internet for "gma950 flight simulator 2004" or "netbook flight simulator 2004".

On the first search, be aware that the 10v will have a slower CPU than many older computers with GMA950 graphics, and therefore results won't be comparable.

A mini 10v struggles with 720p videos. I wouldn't advise using it as a Media Center PC.

The Mini 1012, the new Mini 1018 that's coming out, or even the 11z would be better suited for your wants/needs.

The new Mini 10 (model 1012) is a slightly improved 10v (model 1011). The 1018 is a very slightly improved 1012. The 1018 isn't available in the US, yet.

I expect 3D performance and gaming on the 1012/1018 will be similar, and barely improved over the 10v. Media playback on the 1012/1018 should be better if you opt for the Broadcom decoder card.
