Hello =)

I just picked up an XPS M1330 from the outlet ($370 shipped, woot!) and was wondering if it could handle TF2 or Portal? Any other games you'd recommend for it?

Spec's:
-- XPS M1330 Laptop: Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 (2MB cache/1.5GHz/667Mhz FSB) Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
-- 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
-- Bluetooth Wireless Card 355
-- 8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
-- 3945 802.11a/g Wireless Mini Card
-- Crimson Red
-- 120 GB SATA Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
-- 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM 677MHz (2 DIMMs)

I had a 1318 before and it couldn't play much of anything so I'm kind of excited to see what this can do!

Fair enough Most people with netbooks have larger powerhouses (a trend I've seen in the forums) so I thought one of them might be able to help.

The 8400M GS is a decent GPU. As far as Counter-Strike and other Source-based games, I could play CSS fine when I had my HP Artist Edition. TF2 is a beefier engine from what I've heard, so can't promise anything. I do know that the Source engine is almost more CPU-reliant than GPU, though.

Yeah I have an M1330 and it handles CS and TF fine. Its a nice laptop you will like it.

In response to your sig Athena, I'm not torn. I've owned Dell and HP laptops, but not Acer (although my IT career has brought me in to much contact with them through servicing laptops) and I'm sorry but Dell build quality is far superior to the others.

I agree with you

The only reason I'm considering the competitors is that I miss the physical touchpad buttons. I didn't mind it on the mini 10, in fact I preferred it, but since I do a bit of light gaming on the go I'd really like the physical buttons on my 11.1". Yes, taking along a mouse is an option but it's one I'd rather not have to consider.

I also preferred the Mini 10 keyboard the 11z's. I'm not sure why the change? Maybe it's just my imagination..

I'll probably go with the 11z but I do want to weigh the options.
