Great news!
Do you guys have a link to that 32gb SSD you bought? How much was it?

I think this is what most people are going for:

May I ask what you guys do with your 'old/replaced' SSD drives? eBay or can you think of any other use? are there enclosures like for IDE/SATA drives for such a thing?

I get mine tomorrow (got sick of waiting for 64 GB). I will use my method and make sure it works but I have no doubt it will. Always knew it was an hardware issue. I have a new iso that does scrolling ( no mods needed) as well but will wait to try it on the 32 GB drive.

Sad thing is if my first 32GB drive was not DOA could have made it here a long time ago but hey glad to see it work!
Make VERY sure the drive really is DOA before you send it back. When I boot into BIOS, it shows the computer as having no HDD at all, yet, it works. I fought with it for a few minutes, resetting the bios, pulling the battery out, etc.. Finally I just said screw it and booted into the iDeneb disc, and my hard drive was there in disc util. I crossed my fingers and hoped it would boot off the hard drive, and it did, after the install.
So yeah, it'd be pretty easy to mistake this drive for no good if you expect it to show up in BIOS.
As for what I'm going to do with the 8gb drive, I plan to keep it as a spare/backup. Just in case something goes wrong with the 32.

Doah that is exactly what happened about 2 1/2 weeks ago when I got my first 32 GB drive, it never showed in BIOS and I never went further. I even thought about just trying it but thought no way it will see it. Thanks for the heads up. Drive is arriving in a couple hours let you know how it goes.

Cheers for you UnaClocker.... It´s good to know that there is a possibility to get Sleep working in OSX.

I still hope we find a solution for 16gb STEC... I dont have my Mini yet (ETA 26/11) so I cant try anything , PLEASE GUYS DONT GIVE UP!

As for other uses for your old SSD, is it possible to use the WWAN port to add a port for the SSD ? We need a brave modder.

Yeah, I remembered reading your post and thought I'd go that extra step, because I knew what the alternative was.. another month of waiting.. hehe, I'd have had this thing a month earlier too, if I hadn't thought the Eee's SSD was the same as ours and ordered one that was physically too long to fit. I have GOT to figure out how to turn off journaling, I think the computer will be better without it.

Honestly, I have been planning for quite some time to try to wire the old SSD into the WWAN port. I think I'll start with experimenting with getting it working on the WLAN port, since that's easier to experiment with. In my last couple of tests in the WLAN port, the drive would not show up in bios, or boot. So I have my doubts.

To turn off journalling:
sudo diskutil disableJournal /Volumes/TheVolumeName

where "TheVolumeName" is, put whatever you named your HD. It does seem to help with the random delays that seem to pop up all the time with this slower 32gb SSD.

So earlier you said you could not get the boot cd to boot. Did you mean that it boots from my iso but then when you boot the 10.5 disc it just spins? With the new SSD I can't seem to get it to boot the leopard retail DVD

No, I meant that the CD I burnt with your ISO would not boot, it'd go straight to netboot.

Oh, and I tried an extended sleep today, to get an idea of maximum sleep time. It slept 4.5 hours, and woke up at 92% battery, it was at 100% when I closed the lid and unplugged the power cord. Could probably call that 2% per hour, so it could sleep for 2 full days max?
