So Dell finally sent me a replacement for the bad mini 9 but guess what... just as I figured, they whitelisted the wlan slot to only work with THEIR stuff. My 3G card works great in the first mini 9 (BIOS A01) but I get "radio disabled" in the new bios upgrade (or in my case downgrade).

Where can I get the good one back. Please don't bother to fill me in on the virtues of A04 because to me this netbook is useless without my 3G modem keeping me on the go.

Anyone ????

Using the above util, you could flash all the way back to A00 under DOS if you wish to help resolve your issue.

BTW: I'm assuming you have confirmed that the WWAN in the BIOS is in fact enabled after you have flashed up to A04. You may also want to reset to default settings within the BIOS as well to see if this changes anything for you.

OP: I'm confused, you mentioned the WLAN and issues with 3G. Which are you having issues with (WLAN = wireless, Wi-Fi, localized wireless access, WWAN = 3G, cell network, Verizon, etc).

I am using A04 with a Atheros N WLAN card pulled from a Toshiba laptop without issue. Although I did notice that Dell does have Atheros drivers posted on the Mini 9 support page so it is possible that they've whitelisted it in the bios. Still I would find it odd that Dell has gone to whitelisting with a bios revision rather than shipping the original version that way.

There's no whitelist on A04. I'm using an HP branded and named Sierra Wireless MC8775 and it works. I had problems with turning on the radio, but it turned out to be a driver issue.

I am also on a verizon USB720 wwan and A04.

You are correct, there is no whitelisting. Just my crappy eu850d 3G card that was the problem. I couldn't get back here to delete my thread !!
