I am currently using the version which was included with the NBI_083F image file, which (from memory) is shown as 0.8.3.2 so I am not really sure if there is any difference in them, or not. Everything seems to be working well at the moment however... touch wood! ![]() |

NetbookInstaller 0.8.3 Released (and Merry Christmas) Meklort's Blog There are many changes since RC2, however, so it's worth downloading and re-running the latest version.

The way software development usually works is for an alpha (usually quite 'buggy') version to be released first. This is then followed by a number of beta versions before progressing onto Release Candidates, with the highest number being the latest, before the program finally goes 'gold'. It is possible that Meklort works differently, but I wouldn't have thought so. At the top of Mechdrew's download page, found at: Downloads | OS X | mechdrew he lists NetbookBootInstaller 0.8.3 RC5 as "Release Candidate for the next version of NetbookInstaller. Now with 10.6.2 support" which would therefore appear to be the most recent version. That is how I see it anyway. ![]() Edit: You might like to have look at this Wikipedia page also, which virtually confirms what I have just said. |

Downloads - netbook-installer - Project Hosting on Google Code RC5 released. Dec. 19, 2009 alpha released. Dec. 25, 2009 So in this sense, the 'release candidate' aspect of RC5 is that it was a candidate for the alpha release. Semantics, semantics!

There are quite a few Mac software updates available also, all of which I have installed without any problems so far, and I have today installed Skype, which from the one and only test call I made appears to work fine, with both clear vision and sound over a wi-fi link. |

I've already downloaded the latest NBM, built my flash drive and am ready to do the memory upgrade and on to the Macenstien work! I'll let you know how I do and will be following along for any latest/greatest tips. I've never been known for my ability to follow written directions but you guys make it look pretty straight forward. Keep up the great work. --dw |

Other similar guides can also be found on this site, and also on Mechdrew's own website, which can be found at Guides | OS X | mechdrew I am therefore closing this thread for the moment, and would ask that any questions, or points for discussion are raised either in the section most appropriate to you particular model, or in the General Mac OS X Discussion area. Thanks. |
