I am running into trouble when trying to get the mouse working again...

I ran Netbookinstaller and checked "Install Dell Mini 10v Extensions"

rebooted

There has been no change in mouse behavior, and no change in system preferences to allow additional settings.

I really need to be able to "tap-to-click" and I have to have the two finger scroll. :-)

No, you're not confused. This guide is very outdated (despite being recently posted). Netbookmaker and Netbookinstaller (two sides of the same coin, really--one handles EFI booting for install, the other handles post-install netbook tweaking and driver installation) both work fine with A06 as of version 0.8.3 RC5, including the current 0.8.3 alpha release.

NO NEED TO DOWNGRADE YOUR BIOS!

If you are using NetBookInstaller 0.8.3 alpha (the latest release), you should have a "Trackpad" preferences pane that will allow you to enable tap-to-click and two finger scrolling.

Follow my guide here:

Complete Guide to Dual Booting 10v with Windows 7 and OSX 10.6.2

and see if that helps!

(Note: this guide is for dual-booting with Windows 7. Just following the instructions for installing Snow Leopard, and instead of creating two partitions in Phase 3, just create one.)

Default Basic Question - 01-21-2010, 05:20 AM

Hey guys, first of all THANK YOU all for this I cant wait to get started, but i have i think a basic question.
1. If you do not have access to a MAC is there any other way to make the Flash Drive? Can I Use another Disk Utility for Windows Vista which is my Desktop is? What are some other option to making the Flash Drive?

By the way I did by an original install from Apple, $29bucks LOVE IT...

2. The NetbookBootMaker_0.8.3.app, is this to only run on MACs? same issue I think I need this to create my Flash Drive.

My only sticking point is creating this Flash Drive, any assistance would be MUCH appreciated...

Thanks in Advance

As I mention above, this guide is really outdated. All of your questions are answered in the first section of my guide:

Complete Guide to Dual Booting 10v with Windows 7 and OSX 10.6.2

See the section entitled "A few warnings", number 3. And good luck!

(Note that you don't have to use my guide for dual booting--all the steps work fine to generate a single boot system. Just create only the first partition in Phase 3, step 5, and allow it to occupy the entire drive. Then complete the remainder of Phase 3 (installing Snow Leopard) and skip to Phase 7 for post-install tweaks).

Hi Virusdoc,

I am also in a similar position, and am therefore interested in your reply.

When you say that "this guide is really outdated", are you refering to your own guide, to which you provided a link, this one by MaLiCiOuS, or to MechDrew's guide, which you link to in Number 3 of your 'A few warnings' section?

For anyone, like 'Tick' and myself, who do not have access to a Mac, (and are fairly new to all this!) are you now recommending that we follow your Guide, or MechDrews?

As I have said before, I am still learning about 'mackintoshing', but it is something I would like to try on my Mini 10v... (not dual-booting though), especially as I hope to have an iPhone shortly!

Thanks.

P.S. Welcome to the Forum, 'Tick!'

Sorry for the unclear antecedent. The guide that is outdated is Malicious's guide, above. It was copied verbatim from a Gizmodo article last October. Huge improvements have been made to NetBookInstaller since then, streamlining the install process and eliminating the need to downgrade your BIOS. I noted this above, and I wish Malicious would return and either update the guide or at least post a warning about it being out of date.

My guide is current and I'm updating it regularly to keep it so:

Complete Guide to Dual Booting 10v with Windows 7 and OSX 10.6.2

Mechdrew's guide for making the Snow Leopard install USB with a PC is also current, and works well.

Good luck!

Thanks for a prompt and helpful reply Virusdoc.

As neither of us have access to Mac computers, just PC's, it looks as if we will therefore have to use MechDrews guide, rather than your excellent one!

Something to leave until I have a bit more time at the weekend though, I think!
