| Junior Member Posts: 3 Join Date: Dec 2008 | We have 2 Mini 9's with Ubuntu - one shows a battery design charge of 35.5 Wh, the other shows just 24.4 Wh. Both were assembled at the end of November. Swapping the batteries shows that it's a battery problem, not a machine problem. After several days procrastination from Dell's support, today I received a new battery - but again with 24.4 Wh capacity . On the labels, all 3 batteries are supposedly 32 Wh.Checking the serial numbers - both defective batteries start with KR, and were made in Korea / assembled in China, whereas the good battery starts with CN - made and assembled in China. Does anyone else have a similar low-capacity battery? I wonder if the different capacities are consistent with the different places of manufacture / serial numbers? I'm looking for more data to follow up on this. Edit - test results and updated information here: battery-capacity-24-wh,-not-32-wh-t1723s110.html#p13788 |

------------------ ok, some pictures: first the "good battery" ![]() ![]() 35518 to the 100% charge, so 35520 is ok. now the "bad battery" ![]() ![]() 24419 for the 100%, so 24420 is correct. i gonna call dell tomorrow  | |

the good battery has 35520 for 4 cells, so, 3 cell must be 35520/4*3=26640, so, the bad battery (24420) is not even 3 cells! is just 2.92 cells! is only 68%, so, if the bad battery runs for 3 hours, the good battery goes for 4.5! a whole hour and a half! man, i and was happy because my battery charged very fast  :x | |

I don't know of a way to check that info in OS X on my Mini, but I did pop the battery out and had a look, it says Made in Korea.. So it may be one of the bum ones.. I get 3 hours of life out of it.. But that is a bit below the 4 hours Dell advertised.. I moved this to the News section so it'll be on the front page now.. |
