Yes, it does hurt to lie to get a new whatever. It's no different from shoplifting.

While you're still on your high horse, call Dell sales team and tell them to stop lying to make sales.... they shop lifted 1 cell from my battery.

No need to lie. Just got off the chat with Dell and they quickly agreed to replace my KR tagged battery. I just reported that it showed 2200mAh under Ubuntu and after a few minutes they are sending me a new one. The only bug was she noted if the new battery didn't show a higher value I should update to the new BIOS. I reminded them of this thread and that to be sure I wouldn't get another defective battery and she indicated the request would be escalated.

Time on chat: 10 minutes...

Ubuntu Mini 9 purchased on 11/20..

Two wrongs never made a right, and never will. If you lie to them because you think (without any proof) that they lied to you, then you just lower yourself below their level.

They haven't shoplifted anything, even if your battery has only 3 cells. Shoplifting, like all words, has a specific meaning and this isn't it. In any case, your battery almost certainly has precisely the correct number of cells in it, regardless of the reported capacity (try reading the OP's follow up).

It may be that your battery is defective, but that is a) not shoplifting by Dell sales (or anyone else), b) not any other form of theft, c) not caused by the lack of a cell, and d) fixed by correctly and calmly reporting it to Dell support and getting it replaced.

Recieved my replacement battery from Dell today. It is also a 'KR' and actually looks used (maybe 'refurbished'). I'll do a real life test on both and return the poorer performing 'KR' battery. Live and learn.... ops:

Have those of you who are still griping about the battery actually READ this thread? The person who started the hoorah posted time results that show the so-called "defective" battery lasting longer than the so-called "higher capacity" battery.

Here's a link to that message that basically says, "Never mind!"

http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/batt...10.html#p13788

Sheesh, people. This is not cause for hysteria. If it's a problem, there's ample time to get it corrected. It may simply be a problem with the way the software READS the battery info, not a problem with the battery itself.

Anyone who believes that the battery will last exactly as long as Dell advertises is pretty naive. Cars don't get the advertised mileage, and the same car will get different mileage under different driving conditions. Your battery may last 3.5 hours one day and 5 hours the next, depending on what you are doing.

Is there a way to see the 24 mWh in XP? I hate to tell them some other software is indicating I have a lesser battery. At least if I can see it in XP, they can't argue that the software is flawed.
