NetbookBootMaker / NetbookInstaller .8.3RC5 is now available and has been posted on the Google Code project page.

Please keep in mind that release candidates are still in development and are under a lot of testing. The .8.3RCs will add support and fix issues, but you should be aware that it may always cause unexpected problems (always keep a backup handy, just in case! ) Release Candidates have not been through extensive and thorough testing before release.

Installation Instructions :

1. Download the NetbookInstaller .8.3RC5
2. Run NBI .8.3RC5 using the options you prefer
3. Reboot your Mini

Remember to always run NBI after any major OSX update!

This new version of NetbookInstaller includes the following changes:

All Netbooks

• Updated chameleon patch to enhance the 10.6.2 kernel support (makes it non 10.6.2 specific).
• Chameleon patch to determine the native lcd resolution (via edid)
• Chameleon patch to incoperate the 915resolution program for intel GPU's
• Fixed DSDT generation bug introduced in RC4.
• Mirroring off command located at /Extra/bin/mirroring.
• Replaces OpenHaltRestart.kext with OSXRestart.kext. Fixes restart after sleep issue.
• Updated to FakeSMC v2.5 from netkas.
• Updated UpdateExtra.app so that it no longer becomes unresponsive.

Dell Mini 10v

• Temporary fix for the A06 bios.

Dell Mini 9

• Updated audio for the Mini 9. This is a temporary fix and will change in the future.

GMA500 Netbooks

• Included VaioPEnabler.kext to set the graphics framebuffer on bootup. This has not been tested

Remember to report any and all bugs you encounter to the Google Code bug tracker. This allows us to track issues with NetbookInstaller and keep up on fixing any bugs.

(It is extremely hard to remember bugs reported on the forums and is nearly impossible to keep up with all of the discussions. The forums are a great place to discuss problems and talk with other members about possible fixes, but you should always submit a bug report so that your issues are no overlooked)

Also, all discussions relating to .8.3RC5 belong in the Development section of the forums until further notice.

Finally, remember to support your developers for their hard work and time invested into the project

I installed NBI RC5, and it worked fine. When I installed NBM RC5 to get my iwndows partition back... my OS X audio stopped working x.o;

I'm running a 10v.

Why did you run NBBM? That's why your audio is missing. It doesn't fix the Windows partition.

I tried RC5 and because of the internal mike not working yet I went back to RC4 and the previous patched AppleHDA and the unpatched IOAudioFamily.kext .
I did not rerun RC4, so I have the new bootloader and swapped the "new" Extra with the "old" Extra and rerun UpdateExtra.

A few questions:
1) I like the "AdditionalExtensions" folder. Does it mean that I could put VoodooPowerMini.kext and any 3rd party ext. into it?
2) Does RC5 bring back AppleIntelPIIXata.kext back? It was not in RC4.
3) VaioPEnabled.kext is in Mini9Ext. Is this a mistake?
