Anyway, it's installed now and double checked that it was enabled in bios. I'll be interested to see what the battery life will be now. The only thing that can mess up the installation is not waiting long enough for UpdateExtra to finish doing what it needs to do. I recommend installing iStat Menu and monitor disk activity and CPU while it is updating extensions. Keep your cursor on the window so you can see the beachball spinning. You will know when it is done when the beachball stops spinning and the CPU usage becomes static. CPU1: Frequency is 798Mhz to 931Mhz at idle (with Safari and CPU-I opened)...then jumps to 1596Mhz while loading a new page. Does that look right to you guys? I think I'm good to go on both kexts working correctly (both installed via the extra folder and running "UpdateExtra"). ---------- Post added at 01:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:20 PM ---------- After thinking about it some more. I'm not sure speedstep is doing much more in terms of CPU load than it was before. Let me know if I'm off base: Before speedstep, iStat Menu showed increased load when doing work on the computer (i.e. more apps running simultaneously, etc.)...and decreased load when idle. So is this not stepping in and of itself? Now admittedly the load is less at idle after installing speedstep. (through observing CPU load in iStat). Am I mixing apples with oranges here? i.e. speed and load being mutually exclusive? Thoughts? | Junior Member Posts: 25 Join Date: Oct 2009 | Well, the "About This Mac" Fix didn't work for me as advertised on my Mini 10v running OSX 10.6.2. In the context menu, it still reads Intel Core Solo after doing the install even after shutting down and restarting, so I thought I'd try editing the SMBIOS.plist in /Extra, but I don't have one. Any ideas guys??? Thanks in advance. |

| Member Posts: 31 Join Date: Aug 2009 | I've upgraded to 10.6.2 and about this mac doesnt work. Everything else I've tried (speedstep and restart after sleep worked). I havent tried editing my SMBIOS.plist file in extra. In all honesty it doesnt really matter that much too me to try and edit the file.....if anyone gets this working (including) editing the SMBIOS.plist let me know. |

Out of curiosity did you have it installed before you updated, and what does it say now that you have 10.6.2? ---------- Post added at 08:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:28 PM ---------- Wait a minute though...I recall seeing several screen shots that showed proper info on "about this mac" from people with 10.6.2 NBI 8.2 -> NBI 8.3RC2 -> NBI 8.3RC3 -> NBI 8.3RC5 -> NBI 8.3 alpha USB Legacy Disabled | USB Wake Enabled | BT Enabled | www.suckerpunchent.com

The app is not required for 10.6.2. ---------- Post added at 07:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:37 PM ---------- What about adding the info for occasional hang at boot. Maybe make it easier for a noob to implement? I haven't looked at it in a while, but last time I did it was rather confusing. I think it should definitely be added regardless. I'm pretty sure most of the dead stock SSD issues are a result of improperly power cycling when it hangs. 10V | OS X 10.6.7 | NBI 20100616212351 |BIOS 06|160 GB|1 GIG RAM| 6 Cell Dell Battery Functioning Hibernation Back up Mini 9| OS X 10.6.7| NBI 20100616212351| BIOS 05 | 32 GB SuperTalent | 2 GIGS RAM
