Please refer to THIS THREAD about .8.3RC5, which is the most updated and recent version. ************************************************** ******************************** NetbookBootMaker / NetbookInstaller .8.3RC4 is now available and has been posted on the Google Code project page. Please keep in mind that release candidates are still in development and are under a lot of testing. The .8.3RCs will add support and fix issues, but you should be aware that it may always cause unexpected problems (always keep a backup handy, just in case! ) Release Candidates have not been through extensive and thorough testing before release.Installation Instructions : You must run NBI .8.3RC4 before you upgrade to OSX 10.6.2... if you have already installed 10.6.2 and can no longer boot, try to follow these *recovery procedures* ![]()
This new version of NetbookInstaller includes the following changes:
Other Thoughts : Remember to report any and all bugs you encounter to the Google Code bug tracker. This allows us to track issues with NetbookInstaller and keep up on fixing any bugs. (It is extremely hard to remember bugs reported on the forums and is nearly impossible to keep up with all of the discussions. The forums are a great place to discuss problems and talk with other members about possible fixes, but you should always submit a bug report so that your issues are no overlooked) Also, all discussions relating to .8.3RC4 belong in the Development section of the forums until further notice. Finally, remember to support your developers for their hard work and time invested into the project ![]() NBI and NBM downloads | Meklort's Blog | Meklort's Announcement Enjoy!! -BMC- Meklort's Blog | NBI Google Code Page | osx.mechdrew.com -- the best OSX installation guides |

| Senior Member Posts: 153 Join Date: Sep 2009 | Meklort, you did again a great job, thank you very much!! I have tried your new NetbookInstaller .8.3. RC4, and it works great - with 10.5.8 and 10.6.2. The only annoying thing which is a little bit: the long boot time of 10.6.2. I have timed 1:55 min (from pushing the power-button until OSX-desktop appears and WLAN is ready). With 10.5.8 I have a 1 minute (!) shorter boot time. That is why I am using 10.5.8 now, and I will wait until 10.6.x works better than 10.5.8 I also have noticed that the display running 10.5.8 appears different: it seems that the pixels are smaller and the contrast is better. That is why reading on the Mini10v and 10.5.8 is more comfortable, because the fonts seem to be sharper. If you could compare it on a Mini10v, and having 10.5.8 and 10.6.2 installed, I would be interested if you agree with me. But again, thank you very much! |

Do people think there's functionality lurking in 10.6.2 that needs instructions the Atom doesn't support? I know that I ought to just stick with 10.6.1 since it works fine.... but the upgrade lure is so powerful... just trying to get a feeling for how likely I am to start seeing kernel panics etc. MINI Cooper '02 | 1.6L | CVT | Moonroof | Red w/ White Stripes Want the ALC268 mini 9 sound fix? It keeps on skipping the second set of extensions that were still stored from DellEFI. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the trackpad seems slightly more responsive under 10.5.8. |

| Junior Member Posts: 17 Join Date: Sep 2009 | I am falling through the cracks it seems... But I upgraded and am now stuck in the restart loop. I have booted from the thumb drive. Started up a terminal and put in the commands: cp /Volumes/InternalDrive/mach_kernel /Volumes/InternalDrive/mach_kernel_10_6_2 cp /mach_kernel /Volumes/InternalDrive/ I even tried: cp /mach_kernel /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD/ cp /mach_kernel "/Volumes/Machintosh HD/" and I continue to get the same error message: "does not exist" Does that mean that my internal drive is named something else? And if so what is it? I never changed it from what was originally named when I installed it. Please help as I need this computer operational tonight... Thanks |

Used the software update and got the 156MB 10.6.2 package, not the combo, but all seems to be working for me. If any issues arrise, I'll let everyone know. |

| Junior Member Posts: 18 Join Date: Aug 2009 Location: Dayton, OH | Thanks again Meklort. No problems, no sound on first boot. Just rebooted and sound returned. Re: the above comments - Boot time 1:05. I see no difference in the appearance. Monitor pixels are pixels, it's hardware. Resolution couldn't have changed...perhaps your settings for font smoothing (Sys Pref > Appearances) may have changed - I can't see why.
