That is exactly my dilemma. I can do the terminal mod right now easily and get .2 running. I just want to know if the .2 kernel will be fixed in the future giving us full benefit of the update. If so, I will wait....if the future solution is just to automate the replacement of the .2 kernel with .1, I see no reason to wait since it can be done right now.

The kernel will be fixed. It'll just take a few weeks.

Is there a way to replace the 10.6.2 kernel with the 10.6.1 without using a usb stick loaded with OSX once I've already upgraded? I dont have access to a 8gb usb stick anymore.

How exactly do we boot from that medium? Is the medium the USB that we used to install it in the first place? And when we do this does it have to have the OSX we used and does it have to have the NBI on it as well?

Also have a MBP and a 10v, both running SL. To be honest Win 7 is GREAT but from someone using a Mac for a while you will miss OS X

Default The 10.6.1 > 10.6.2 with Kernel 10.6.1 Does Not Work For Me - 11-11-2009, 02:42 PM

Tried the following process:
Items in red are my comments, black is directly from meklort's blog.

1. Open up theterminal and type "sudo cp /mach_kernel /mach_kernel_10_6_1"
2. Update to 10.6.2 (don't restart)

MY NOTE: My problem could be here. I tried to upgrade by using "Software Update" in the Apple Menu.
The file downloaded was 157MB. I note that the 10.6.2 upgrade file download from the Apple site is 496MB.
After the "upgrade" with the 157MB download, I did NOT reboot. Instead, I opened Terminal again and entered the following:

3. Type the following in terminal "sudo cp /mach_kernel /mach_kernel_10_6_2"
4. "sudo cp /mach_kernel_10_6_1 /mach_kernel"
5. Reboot into normal mode

MY NOTE: This is where it fails. The screen shows the Dell startup, then goes into an endless loop of Dell Logo/Restart, etc.

6. Run NetbookInstaller
Reboot (again)

Can anyone see where I am failing ? Thanks for your comments.

Google ??????????
Yeah.... this is either cool or creepy I'm not sure. The google translation is very poor. Looks like a small binary patch to the 10.6.2 kernel though it might be a binary patch to another kernel (mentions 10.2?) or who knows what.
