I just want to know if the .2 kernel will be fixed in the future giving us full benefit of the update. If so, I will wait....if the future solution is just to automate the replacement of the .2 kernel with .1, I see no reason to wait since it can be done right now. | Senior Member Posts: 364 Join Date: Dec 2008 | Tried the following process: Items in red are my comments, black is directly from meklort's blog. 1. Open up theterminal and type "sudo cp /mach_kernel /mach_kernel_10_6_1" 2. Update to 10.6.2 (don't restart) MY NOTE: My problem could be here. I tried to upgrade by using "Software Update" in the Apple Menu. The file downloaded was 157MB. I note that the 10.6.2 upgrade file download from the Apple site is 496MB. After the "upgrade" with the 157MB download, I did NOT reboot. Instead, I opened Terminal again and entered the following: 3. Type the following in terminal "sudo cp /mach_kernel /mach_kernel_10_6_2" 4. "sudo cp /mach_kernel_10_6_1 /mach_kernel" 5. Reboot into normal mode MY NOTE: This is where it fails. The screen shows the Dell startup, then goes into an endless loop of Dell Logo/Restart, etc. 6. Run NetbookInstaller Reboot (again) Can anyone see where I am failing ? Thanks for your comments. |
