I don't think anybody has any confirmation yet. It's possible that some feature was indeed added that broke it, but it's also very possible that it was done intentionally. Hard to say...it's all speculation at this point.

Point it at the mini's partition and make sure 'install bootloader' is checked as well as 'generate system specific dsdt.aml'.

If some other installation media was used, I'd slave the drive on your mac again and try running netbook installer from there pointed at the mini's partition. MAKE SURE 'GENERATE SYSTEM SPECIFIC DSDT.AML' IS UNCHECKED.

If that doesn't work than I'm out of ideas, perhaps someone else can help you.

Voodoopowermini.kext is not a kernel. It is a kernel extension. It gets loaded by the main system kernel to provide speed stepping on non-mac hardware. Using it will have no effect on 10.6.2 problems.
Thanks for the reply shine on this is how I built up this mini .

I have remove the SSD HD from the 10v and hooked it up to my MAC mini using a USB external drive enclose. Can I run net book installer on my MAc mini pointing to the 10v SSD HD? I have a warning message on the net book installer screen saying that the changes will take place on the boot disk which is my MAC MINI? Is net book installer smart enough to make the changes on the 10v HD and not screw up my MAC MINI HD?

Thanks again

There is a drop down box at the top of the netbook installer window which allows you to select the partition. The box labeled 'volume'. The yellow warning doesn't apply for your situation. If you select the correct partition it will install correctly for your situation.

3.Type the following in the terminal "sudo cp /mach_kernel /mach_kernel_10_6_2"
4."sudo cp /mach_kernel_10_6_1 /mach_kernel"

Question: Do I hit "return" between lines 3 and 4 or type one continuous line ? I think this might be where I am losing it.

THANKS

Yes, those are 2 separate commands.

cp takes 2 arguements. what you're copying, and where you're copying it to.

Thanks for the help Shine on but that did not fix it. Looks like I may need to do a wipe and rebuild unless there are other suggestions. Lesson learned, do not update without checking with mydellmini first.

So, I can tell you 10.6.2 DOES NOT WORK with the Mini10v.

OSX tries to start, but it hangs before you can see the apple and system ist trying to boot again ... you are in a loop...

Perhaps you can start the Mini10v with installed 10.6.2 with a new version of NetBookInstaller which offers 10.6.2-support.

I have also tried to boot from the USB-stick (with the OSX-install-DVD) and to reinstall 0.8.3. RC3 NBI. But no success.

OSX won't start. So keep 10.6.1 until Meklort offers 10.6.2-support by NetBookInstaller.
It doesn't sound good.

Thank you. That would have been my guess (I'm no programmer.) but I didn't want to blow it and start all over again.

Thanks for the info. That's good to know.

Here's a writeup on what's in the 10.6.2 update. I'm guessing the changes listed to add more security to the kernel is what broke Atom support and it may come back on its on in 10.6.3 or folks can make a new 10.6.2 kernel once the source gets released in a week or two. No need to panic.
