In summary, I think it is best to hold off on updating until the source data is released and Meklort has a chance to really fix it. Caveat: I may be interpreting everything wrong, but I think I have it straight? Edit: On a side note, I would definitely do the 10.6.1 upgrade with 8.3rc3 in the interim Edit 2: Didn't realize there were several posts while I was typing this...so chameleon will do the patch, but I still understand this to be a temp fix until source code is released. I can't be *MAD*, because well, we're all not exactly playing the EULA by the letter - we know that. But, I can be disappointed! Either way, it's been a heck of a ride thus far. DellEFI was cool - and NBI is well, nothing short of an amazing effort. Download, install, reboot, click-click-click, done. Wow. Do I *need* 10.6.2? Well, no. At least, not until some super major security vulnerability comes along that has to be patched. Do I *want* 10.6.2? Yep, it would be awesome to have a magic mouse. Full multitouch support! That would be the icing on what is already a great cake. As a systems manager, I know how much freaking effort has gone into - continues to be poured into, the project(s) that keep us all hackintoshing along. I am grateful, I'm donating to the cause, and most of all, I'm being patient. I'm completely confident that in time, a 10.6.2 workaround for my shiny mini-9 will surface right here. Might not be this week, the next, or even by the first inklings of 2010. But, it will. Remember- the guys that have been working on this have lives, too. But one day, it'll happen. Until then, I'm chillin'. (Just trying to put it in perspective for the folks who are well, getting really uptight about all this.....) |

It'll patch the loaded kernel in memory. It *wont* try to path any other version of the kernel, only this one (aka, don't update to 10.6.3, not that it's out yet). I've also patched SleepEnabler.kext so that it works on *both* 10.6.2 and 10.6.0 / 10.6.1. The included version in NBI is only 10.6.(0/1) compatible, while the version netkas released is 10.6.2 only (but it does work). Note that this patch is *very* hackish (then again, the kernel one is too). I'll be releasing a new version of NBI (0.8.3 RC4) shortly (hour or so) with the changes (as well as all the other ones I've made). You absolutely *must* make sure that it installs the bootloader and extensions (default behavior). 3) Reboot 4) Installer 10.6.2. 5) Reboot. 5) Run NebtookInstaller, specifically to patch the new extensions in 10.6.2 EDIT: Just a note: I'd wait for a few users to confirm that this works as I have not extensively tested this out. It's been tested using the 10.6.1 and 10.6.2 kernels, however I may have missed some things. Let me know if it works or doesn't (in which case I'd pull it).
