Well, while we're all publishing maybe-this-will-work-just-try-it kexts, this is my 10.6.2, 32 and 64 bit version (1.7.9a4) for my hp Pavilion dv9700t. The previous poster's version of the kext was 1.6.8a3, and I'm not sure which version of X that corresponds to, but I know that 1.7.9a4 is from 10.6.2 because I modified it myself. On my laptop, everything works. Haven't actually tried this kext on my Mini 9 because I'm still running 10.5.8 on it. Anyway, not much risk here; just replace the kext with the one you're currently using and hey - give it a whirl... who knows.

Siobhan your patched AppleHDA.kext not load, is it because you modified the Device (HDEF) section in your dsdt.dsl ?

If yes please share here your dsdt.aml or the Device (HDEF) modified section.

Thanks.

I'm very excited about Meklorts next NetBookInstaller-update which supports 10.6.2.

Because at the moment 10.6.2 has to be improved for the Mini10v.

Some examples:

1.) After the sleep-mode, bluetooth doesn't work every time. It's a gamble if the MagicMouse works or if not.

2.) The Mini10v needs sometimes more time until he is really in the sleep mode. It takes sometimes over 30! seconds until the LED on the left side is pulsing (and pulsing indicates that the netbook is in the sleepmode).

For the time being (until the source is released and we have a cleaner patch), I'm going to add your patch into NBI (by means of a runtime patch to the kernel). That is, assuming you don't mind. Essentially I'm going to make chameleon patch the loaded up kernel before it starts executing it. It'll only patch that specific kernel with the correct checksum etc (and I'll make is so the patch can be disabled).

As for the AppleHDA patch, I'll look at it and see how well it works (I haven't had too much time to work on audio... new job and such).

I know how big the 10.6.2 update is, I installed it on my iMac.

What updates require 10.6.2?

The simple point is, which applies to all upgrades, is people should actually read what's in the update and ask themselves; (1) If they require this upgrade and if they do, (2) Do they need it now. Question 2 is particularly needed for Hackintosh users. I'd venture that no one running a Hackintosh needs 10.6.2. Every update results in posts from people who install it, screw up their Hackintosh then add, "I need my Mini 9/10v working by {date/time} because {fill in reason}". Such people lack common sense.

What's a v10?

Cut....

I agree with that last paragraph. Assumption is most people have common sense and are only doing these "experiments" (yes, I say experiments) if they have some idea of what they are doing. No one who "needs" their machine for anything should be doing these hacks. For that matter, anyone who "needs" their machine shouldn't be using a Hackintosh. However, for those who have some knowledge (i.e. know what they are doing) and want to try things there is no reason they shouldn't - if they want to - the government doesn't dictate who can and can't hack their installation - yet..

Anyhow, your post has an air of condescension and my first reaction upon the initial reading was "ahhhh, a condescending xxxx!" but I know folks often write things quickly and don't mean to sound that way so I'll assume you are just trying to help folks out and didn't intend your words to convey that tone unless you tell me otherwise.

All the best,
Wingspinner

Well, the wireless keyboard update for one. Certainly there will be more that require this update since it is much more than the kernel - just as plenty of software updates in the past have required "." updates.

Clearly, there is no requirement to do this for anyone right now. How about chilling out and letting us have fun instead of being confrontational?

Peace. OK?

That's very interesting. I've got two 10v's I've setup here with a bunch of stuff on them - like VMWare, OpenOffice, Adobe PS, etc. and at first I had sleep problems but after disabling legacy USB in the BIOS sleep works perfectly. Only difference I see from my MBP is that the Bluetooth takes about 5 seconds to re-acquire my mouse after a resume from sleep.

One other thing, after updating to 10.6.2 (and using the 10.6.1 kernel) I found I had to completely uninstall VMWare and re-install it. Otherwise it would KP when loading a VM.

Remember to play nice, folks. I know a long threads like this can flare tempers, let's keep it cool, okay?

I'm getting excited for the new kernel patch. Whenever NBI is updated to use the patched kernel, it may be time for me to finally update to Snow Leopard. (I've had the disc for three weeks now...)

I *won't* be including a patched kernel.

I *will* make chameleon patch the kernel when it detects it (and by will, I mean I'm working on it now).

Right - it would be a copyright violation to include the patched kernel.

Atleast until apple releases the source code it is. That and it'd make the download mich larger, and wouldn't really help at all (you'd still have to run NBI after an installer, but before a reboot. This way you can run it whenever you want to).
