Arrow *OLD* NetbookInstaller .8.3 RC3 [testing] - 10-07-2009, 03:28 PM

This thread is now deprecated because .8.3RC3 is no longer current. Please refer to THIS THREAD about .8.3RC4, which is the most updated and recent version.

************************************************** ********************************

NetbookBootMaker / NetbookInstaller .8.3RC3 is now available and has been posted on the Google Code project page.

Please keep in mind that release candidates are still in development and are under a lot of testing. The .8.3RCs will add support and fix issues, but you should be aware that it may always cause unexpected problems (always keep a backup handy, just in case! ) Release Candidates have not been through extensive and thorough testing before release.

Installation Instructions :
  1. Download the NetbookInstaller .8.3RC3
  2. Run NBI .8.3RC3 using the options you prefer
  3. Reboot your Mini
[for more detailed installation instructions for those who are not simply updating their current OSX installation... please see Mechdrew's site (link in my signature) or this thread (replacing any links to NetbookInstaller/NetbookBootMaker with the version you wish to use)]

This new version of NetbookInstaller includes the following changes:

  1. All Netbooks
    1. Fixed edge scrolling bug introduced with 10v touchpad changes. A couple of other touchpad changes are also included.
    2. Fixed the disable / enable hibernation code in NetbookInstaller. This time it really does work.
    3. NetbookInstaller now assumes a generic netbook. This shouldn't change anything, but it might work a bit better when generated on a known netbook and used on a different machine.
    4. NetbookInstaller will now set the target partition as active in the MBR. This will help with Windows XP dual boots in that you no longer have to manually set the OS X install as active after installing XP.
    5. Fixed a few typos.
    6. Included gdisk instead of gptsync to create the hybrid mbr table. This works with previous installs now too
  2. Dell Mini 9
    1. Included a DSDT patch so that usb devices are not improperly removed during sleep
  3. Dell Mini 10v
    1. Upgraded to the latest VerbHelper from lnexeo. Audio now resumes after sleep.
    2. Included a DSDT patch so that usb devices are not improperly removed during sleep

Full ChangeLog can be found HERE (via netputing)

Other Thoughts :

Remember to report any and all bugs you encounter to the Google Code bug tracker. This allows us to track issues with NetbookInstaller and keep up on fixing any bugs.

(It is extremely hard to remember bugs reported on the forums and is nearly impossible to keep up with all of the discussions. The forums are a great place to discuss problems and talk with other members about possible fixes, but you should always submit a bug report so that your issues are no overlooked)

Also, all discussions relating to .8.3RC3 belong in the Development section of the forums until further notice.

Finally, remember to support your developers for their hard work and time invested into the project

Enjoy!

Any other differences regarding the 'touchpad'?

touch pad works great with edge scrolling or two finger scrolling. I havent tried 3 fingers because I personaly like using edge scrolling.
