Default *OLD* NetbookInstaller .8.3 RC2 [testing] - 10-01-2009, 04:05 AM

Release Candidate 3 has been released, therefore RC2 is not the current development version. Please focus your attention on the RC3 announcement : HERE
---------------------------------------------------------

NetbookBootMaker / NetbookInstaller .8.3RC2 is now available and has been posted on the Google Code project page.

Please keep in mind that release candidates are still in development and are under a lot of testing. The .8.3RC2 will add support and fix issues, but you should be aware that it may always cause unexpected problems (always keep a backup handy, just in case! ) Release Candidates have not been through extensive and thorough testing before release.

This new version of NetbookInstaller will include the following major changes:

  1. All Netbooks
    1. Added some error checking that should help out with the 10.5.0 -> 10.5.6 upgrade problem (aka, missing mach_kernel.10.5.6)
    2. NetbookInstaller now removes /dsdt.aml (left over from DellEFI) .
    3. gptsync is run on new installs. This should let you install Windows XP on a GUID / GPT drive.
    4. Fixed the postinstall error with NetbookBootMaker
  2. Dell Mini 9
    1. Updated the dsdt patch so it no longer fails
  3. Dell Mini 10v
    1. Included new version of VerbHelper for Snow Leopard which should help with audio

Full ChangeLog can be found HERE (netputing)

Installation Instructions :

  1. Download the NetbookInstaller .8.3RC2
  2. Run NBI .8.3RC2 using the options you prefer
  3. Reboot your Mini

Remember to report any and all bugs you encounter to the Google Code bug tracker. This allows us to track issues with NetbookInstaller and keep up on fixing any bugs.

(It is extremely hard to remember bugs reported on the forums and is nearly impossible to keep up with all of the discussions. The forums are a great place to discuss problems and talk with other members about possible fixes, but you should always submit a bug report so that your issues are no overlooked)

Also, all discussions relating to .8.3RC2 belong in the Development section of the forums until further notice.

Finally, remember to support your developers for their hard work and time invested into the project

Enjoy!

That's for the Lenovo S10, not the mini 9. On the mini 9, when it switches, it disabled both headphones and speakers for some reason.

At the moment you can use VoodooHDA for headphones + mic.

updated with 8.3 rc2. trackpad still works like a charm. restart doesnt work, and now my audio doesnt work. no sound, and the controls to turn it up and down dont work. it has a little cross mark on the bottom of the window that pops up when you try and use the volume controls. This was working in rc1. Still amazing work, and I love my mini mac

edit: should I be posting this on google code bug tracker? ehh I'll do it anyways
