Arrow *OBSOLETE* NetbookInstaller .8.3 Release Candidate 1 [testing] - 09-21-2009, 06:34 PM

Release Candidate 2 has been released. Release Candidate 1 is now obsolete.

CONTINUE TO THIS THREAD : HERE

----------------------------------------
NetbookBootMaker / NetbookInstaller .8.3RC1 is now available and has been posted on the Google Code project page.

Please keep in mind that release candidates are still in development and are under a lot of testing. The .8.3RC1 will add support and fix issues, but you should be aware that it may always cause unexpected problems (always keep a backup handy, just in case! ) Release Candidates have not been through extensive and thorough testing before release.

This new version of NetbookInstaller will include the following changes:

Full ChangeLog can be found HERE (netputing)

Installation Instructions :

  1. Download the NetbookInstaller .8.3RC1
  2. Run NBI .8.3RC1 using the options you prefer
  3. Reboot your Mini
[if you want the dsdt fixes (battery, f1 disabled, bluetooth), you need to select regenerate dsdt when you run NetbookInstaller]

Remember to report any and all bugs you encounter to the Google Code bug tracker. This allows us to track issues with NetbookInstaller and keep up on fixing any bugs.

(It is extremely hard to remember bugs reported on the forums and is nearly impossible to keep up with all of the discussions. The forums are a great place to discuss problems and talk with other members about possible fixes, but you should always submit a bug report so that your issues are no overlooked)

Also, all discussions relating to .8.3RC1 belong in the Development section of the forums until further notice.

Finally, remember to support your developers for their hard work and time invested into the project

Enjoy!

Hopefuly it doesn't cause problems.
I don't have it checking for VoodooHDA or anything like that, so you may want to remove that first if you have it.

Also, if you decided to add a smbios.plist file, you need to delete it, reboot, and then NetbookInstaller will recognize your machine.

Hey,

Thank you very much for all of the effort you are putting into this Meklort.

After running the new RC I can say that the 10v has 2 finger scrolling, you need to go into sys pref to set it up. I find it is smoother to hold one finger in place resting on the track pad and scroll with the other. Moving both at once has been a bit jumpy for me in Safari.

Cannot wait to get sound after sleep through the speakers, but having headphones is fine for now.

Also, the change log said the F1 button was disabled, in my case it is not. Not an issue, I never knew it was a problem before I read it in the list and then decided to try pressing it and my screen died.

Thanks again.

This should be good for a fresh install though, right? On the Mini 9?

To get the screen back after F1:
sleep (lid) and wake up.

F1 should activate an external Moniutor as far as I know (which disables your internal screen).

Should work fine for new installs.

Also, if you want the dsdt fixes (battery, f1 disabled, bluetooth), you need to select regenerate dsdt when you run NetbookInstaller. In the future I may make it checked by default, but for now it isn't

F1 is "supposed" to enable mirroring, which has been disabled in .8.3 RC1 because mirroring is broken

And thanks for the note about regenerating the dsdt.aml file meklort
