Just tried this. I got the same response. When I clicked on "RESTART" the screen went black. I had to hold down the power button until the keyboard panel light went out, then power-on again. Not a big issue; just confirming the report by sincenine.

UPDATE: Just tried again . . . 5 times, and RESTART now works properly. :-) It only did it the first time I clicked on RESTART.

8.3 RC1 installed as directed. Working just fine as far as I can tell. Sound and sleep are good and it boots significantly faster.

Anyone remove the HD and install the OS from a MAC with .8.3RC1 yet? I have to wait for my netbook to arrive on Friday before I can give it a shot.

or are all these errors associated with OS install with boot USBs?

I'm in the same boat. I submitted a bug report as recommended. I'm sure they'll figure it out. I'm glad it's just a cosmetic issue and doesn't impact functionality at all!

Quick question for the pros. I have a dell mini 9 2gb ram, 16gb ssd currently runnning snow leopard but have not upgraded to 10.6.1. Can I just upgrade then run the .8.3 RC1 installed from my desktop to fix audio? Or do I have to do a fresh install? Thanks peeps.

I am using BIOS A04, Dell Mini 10V. Perhaps BIOS A04 is here the reason??

It is very strange.
My first install with 10.5 stopped with the same message, and downgrading BIOS from A06 to A04 made it possible, to install OSX.

I can't unterstand why the installation now stops.

I will try to install OSX 10.6 with the "old" netbookmaker 0.8.2. alpha (the previous version). Seems that 0.8.3 doesn't work for me

That is user-error... you do not have booting from USB enabled and it is attempting to boot from the network.

installed OSX onto my mini 10v this morning, using the previous "fool proof install".

ran the 10.5.7 combo update. following the directions i then tried to get into safe mode and didn't seem to able to. (nothing an the screen said "safe" and with no sound i had to guess when to hit the shift key. got a grey screen with the hard drive on it, but it didn't boot to anything that i could run the DellEFI for 10v with).

after a few safe mode tries the computer then seemed to be booting as before (to the home screen -- (spinning wheel under the apple and all) but then goes to messed up screen (shedded apple logo). at that i point i could no longer get a full boot.

THIS AFTERNOON I SAW THE NEW INSTALLER FOR 8.3. i downloaded it AND the netbootinstaller 8.3 and transferred the new netbootinstall to my 8gb flash drive with OSX. i am reinstalling everything now (4 minutes to go).

now what do i do after the OSX installs? do i still run the updater? if so, which one (10.5.7 update or 10.5.7combo)? or do i let the internet up date OSX from the apple site?

how much of the previous "fool proof directions" do i still do? do i still install the new netbookinstaller (i would think not).

No, I had USB enabled.

I only could solve this problem by booting again from the usb-stick (where the image of the 10.6 DVD was) and started again NetBookInstaller. This step made my system work.

Perhaps there is a bug in NebookBOOTMaker

I've mostly tested netbook installer for this release.

I don't think I've made any changes to NetbookBootMaker, but I'll look into when I get home and see if I can figure it's not working correctly.
