I think I may actually have to install this once the next RC is released. I'm needing to rebuild my 10v and turn it into a triple boot system (OS X, Windows 7 and Linux), although I'm fearing that prospect at the moment.

Default SL NetbookInstaller from windows only? - 09-25-2009, 03:40 PM

I recently purchased a dell mini 10v, and I bought a copy of SL. I do not however have a mac, or have easy access to a mac of any kind. I know the old dellminiboot uses the darwin loader which doesn't work with SL, is there any way to use the new NetbookInstaller from a windows only environment to be able to do the two USB drive install approach?

It looks like Mechdrew is hinting at working on a guide for this, so it seems it might be possible, although he is out the rest of the month, so should I just wait?

Thanks.

I see a lot of people jumping up and down about "sound works". I would like to ask those people if they mean 1. the speakers work 2. the audio out plug works 3. the microphone in plug works.

I really wish people would put their system spec in their signature too. All you have to do is click on "User CP" above then on "Edit Signature" mmmmkay?

Your only Windows only option for the moment would be to install Leopard using the 2-usb stick method and then upgrading to snow leopard. If you feel particularly ballsy, take the usb stick, SL Dvd, and netbook boot maker to an apple store and use the display models.

I had considered this, and might have tried it if it didn't take hours to burn the disk image.

Go to the 5th Ave. Apple Store with your Snow Leopard DVD and and a 8GB flash drive, and use the 13 or 15in Macbook Pro to restore it. It takes like 25min. While you wait, just surf the internet, no one will notice or care...

One more thing: Make sure to take your receipt of the Snow Leopard DVD, just in case they think you took it of the shelf...

I don't live in NY, but I do have an Apple store on my way home from work, so I might pop in tonight and see if I think I can get away with it.

Anguish, how is the install coming along?
