Default Runcore PCI-E SSD Enclosures Released - 09-18-2009, 09:50 AM

MyDigitalDiscount has just released their 50mm / 70mm PATA Mini PCI-E USB enclosures on ebay. These little enclosures allow you to turn any 70mm/50mm PCI-E SSD into an external USB 2.0 drive. Priced at just $19.99 these make a great way to make use of your original Dell Mini 9 SSD if you've upgraded, or for simply accessing a drive once it's been removed from computer.

It all comes in its very own neat protective little box too.

You can pick one up on MyDigitalDiscount.com or via their eBay Store.

Not sure how would this work with the original Dell Mini SSD? Isn't this just an enclosure. Wouldn't you need a Runcore with a USB. The original SSD does not have a USB conenction. A better idea would be an enclosure that was able to add USB capability to a SSD without one and thereby turning and SSD into an external drive.

Oops, stupid me. I see how it works now. I thought it was just an enclosure. This does exactly what I was saying above. This is a great idea! I might just have to pick one up.

This would at least allow me to reuse my nearly worthless 1st gen 16GB Super Talent drive that Newegg sold as a "non returnable" item.

Actually, this would allow us to image any PATA drive just like a Runcore wouldn't it?

We would just caution that a number of the Supertalent drives are SATA and to double check before ordering because this is a PATA only enclosure.
If anyone needs a SATA enclosure, we do have a few sample units of those as well, simply call us toll free 1-866-217-1800 to get one of those. Due to the limited stock, we do not have them on our site or eBay at this time.

Would you be able to use any mini SSD and put OSX on it via the Direct to Runcore method?

Alright, just picked one up. It will be good to get use out of the stock SSD again, even if it is slow. Thanks MDD for coming out with more for my Dell Mini. Keep it up!
